FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Manistique, MI — Schoolcraft Tourism & Commerce (STC) is proud to welcome Haas
Hearing to the Manistique business community and celebrate the opening of its new
location with the presentation of a First Dollar Certificate to owner and audiologist Dr.
Megan Haas.
Dr. Haas brings more than 12 years of audiology experience to the Upper Peninsula,
along with a passion for personalized, patient-centered care. Her journey into audiology
was inspired by close relationships with her grandparents and a lifelong desire to help
older adults stay connected to the people and moments that matter most.
“There is something incredibly meaningful about helping people stay connected to their
loved ones through better communication,” said Dr. Haas. “Audiology felt like a natural
fit for me, and opening Haas Hearing allowed me to build a practice centered on
accessibility, trust, and truly serving our community.”
Haas Hearing first opened in Escanaba, but as the practice grew, Dr. Haas recognized a
growing need for more accessible hearing healthcare across the region. Many patients
were traveling two or more hours for appointments, creating a real barrier to care.
“Expanding to Manistique was a natural next step,” Dr. Haas explained. “This location
allows us to bring high-quality hearing healthcare closer to home and make it more
convenient for the people we serve.”

The Manistique office offers comprehensive audiology services for patients of all ages,
including diagnostic hearing evaluations, advanced hearing aid technology, tinnitus
management, pediatric hearing care for children as young as six months, and services
for veterans through the VA Community Care program.
“Manistique is a close-knit community where relationships and trust matter,” said Dr.
Haas. “That aligns perfectly with how we practice hearing care. We’re proud to fill a local
need and build lasting relationships with patients right here in the community.”
What sets Haas Hearing apart is its relationship-based approach. As a locally owned
and community-focused practice, Haas Hearing emphasizes education, long-term
support, and individualized solutions, never sales quotas.
Modern hearing technology is also transforming patient experiences. Today’s hearing
aids can automatically adjust to environments, reduce background noise, connect via
Bluetooth, and even be fine-tuned through smartphone apps—making them more
intuitive and accessible than ever.
Dr. Haas also encourages community members to be proactive about hearing health.
“If people sound like they’re mumbling, conversations are hard to follow in background
noise, or the TV volume keeps creeping up, it’s time for a hearing evaluation,” she said.
“And protecting your hearing, whether mowing the lawn, using power tools, or firing a
weapon even once, makes a big difference.”
STC’s First Dollar Certificate recognizes new or expanding businesses and celebrates
their investment in the local economy. The presentation marks not just a new business
opening, but a long-term commitment to serving the Manistique area.

“We are thrilled to welcome Haas Hearing to Manistique,” said Victoria George,
Executive Director of Schoolcraft Tourism & Commerce. “Dr. Haas brings not only
exceptional expertise, but a genuine commitment to patient-centered care that truly fits
our community. STC’s First Dollar Certificate recognizes businesses like Haas Hearing
that invest locally, meet a real community need, and strengthen the long-term vitality of
our region.”
“Being able to serve communities like Escanaba and Manistique, places with deep roots
and strong connections, is incredibly rewarding,” Dr. Haas added. “Seeing the real
impact of our work every day is what makes it all worthwhile.”
When she’s not helping patients hear better, Dr. Haas enjoys spending time with her
family, staying active outdoors, and volunteering at her children’s schools, staying
connected to the community she proudly serves.
Looking ahead, Dr. Haas is excited to continue growing Haas Hearing in Manistique and
helping even more residents hear better and live fuller lives—right here, close to home.
