Manistique, MI – Schoolcraft Tourism & Commerce (STC) proudly presented a First
Dollar recognition to Evergreen Tax Solutions in celebration of the company’s one-year
anniversary in business.
Owned and operated by Syrea McDonald, Evergreen Tax Solutions opened in
Manistique with a vision to provide trusted, professional tax services to individuals and
businesses throughout Schoolcraft County and the Upper Peninsula. After one year,
that vision has become a growing success story.
“Once I started looking into this field, it felt like everything clicked,” McDonald shared. “I
knew it was what I wanted to pursue as a career. Having a great support system really
encouraged me to take the leap.”
In her first year, McDonald surpassed her initial benchmark for the number of returns
she hoped to process. While she anticipated serving mostly friends and family, she was
overwhelmed by the strong support from the broader community.
“The outpouring of support from our community was incredible,” McDonald said. “I was
blown away and so grateful for the number of people who chose to trust and support my
business.”
Throughout the year, Evergreen Tax Solutions has seen strong demand for both
individual and business tax preparation services. In response, McDonald has expanded
her offerings to include tax preparation for individuals, sole proprietors, and businesses,
as well as quarterly tax payment management, bookkeeping, and payroll services.
As a solo entrepreneur, McDonald manages all aspects of the business herself — from
backend processing and client agreements to marketing and customer service. She
credits mentorship, small business support networks, and her business management
education for helping her build efficient systems and deliver a high level of service.
Born and raised in Manistique, McDonald intentionally chose to open her business
locally.
“I love our community and am grateful that I get to give back and support our locals in
this way,” she said. “Being centrally located in the U.P. allows me to serve multiple
markets while still contributing to the town that raised me.”
Victoria George, Executive Director of Schoolcraft Tourism & Commerce, praised
McDonald’s impact during the First Dollar presentation.
“Syrea’s professionalism, drive, and commitment to serving both individuals and small
businesses have already made a meaningful impact in our community,” said George.
“Celebrating her first year in business is a testament to her hard work and the strong
support network we have here in Manistique. STC is proud to recognize Evergreen Tax
Solutions and looks forward to watching her continued growth.”

Looking ahead, McDonald plans to continue expanding her business tax and
bookkeeping services, broaden her remote capabilities, and further her education with
the goal of becoming a registered Enrolled Agent with the IRS. Long term, she hopes to
provide strategic tax planning services to meet a growing need in the Upper Peninsula.
“Personally, reaching one year solidifies the trust I have in myself to pursue this career,”
McDonald said. “Professionally, it gives me confidence that my services are needed and
appreciated. I’m excited to continue growing and to remain a trusted local resource
year-round.”
Schoolcraft Tourism & Commerce’s First Dollar program recognizes new and growing
businesses in Schoolcraft County, celebrating entrepreneurial investment and economic
growth within the community.
