Safety Barriers and Traffic Pattern Announced for Folk Fest Weekend

MANISTIQUE, MI — As preparations continue for Manistique Folk Fest on Friday, July

10, and Saturday, July 11, the City of Manistique will once again install safety barriers

throughout the downtown event area to help ensure the safety of attendees, vendors,

volunteers, performers, and downtown businesses.

The barriers will remain in place during vendor set up, the event, and tear down. As a

result, vendors will need to follow designated entry and exit routes when accessing their

booth locations.

Vendor maps have been distributed identifying booth locations as well as the approved

traffic flow pattern.

South Section Vendors (Cedar Street between Oak and Walnut) will enter from Maple

Street (M-94), proceed through the parking lot to Walnut Street, turn left onto Walnut,

and then left onto South Cedar Street to reach their assigned site. Exit will be via Oak

Street by the Post Office.

North Section Vendors (Cedar Street between Walnut and Main) will enter from Main

Street through the State Savings Bank parking lot and turn left onto Cedar Street. Exit

will also be via Oak Street by the Post Office.

To help keep traffic moving efficiently, volunteers will be available to assist vendors

during unloading. Vendors are encouraged to unload their items promptly, move their

vehicles to designated parking areas outside the event zone, and then return to

complete booth setup.

While the safety barriers are being installed and throughout the festival weekend,

downtown Manistique businesses will remain open and ready to welcome customers.

Visitors are encouraged to continue shopping, dining, and supporting local businesses

during Folk Fest preparations and festivities. Customers can access downtown

businesses by utilizing the public parking lots and parking areas located behind the

stores on Cedar Street.

The City of Manistique, Schoolcraft Tourism & Commerce, and the Folk Fest Committee appreciate the community's patience and cooperation as these safety measures are put into place. The barriers help create a safer and more enjoyable environment for everyone attending Folk Fest while allowing visitors to continue enjoying all that downtown Manistique has to offer.
